On Wednesday evening at around 9.05 pm ,I got a call from my brother saying "grandpa is no more".I was cooking and didnt feel anything at that point since I couldnt believe it. Then I immediately called my travel agent and he luckily arranged a ticket .My grandpa expressed his wish several times that I must do the "funeral rites". I kept that fact in my head and I told my dad ,they should "wait" for me for the funeral.While traveling I was imagining the fact that grandpa is no more and my house will be crowded with visitors .
I reached home at around 12 -15 pm. I prostrated before the red cloth wrapped dead body of my grandpa. I immediately changed the dress and went along with my family members to crematorium for the funeral. Just before the funeral somebody removed the cloth that covered the face of grandpa and I saw a glimpse of frail old man, which hardly resembled my grandfather. I dont know what I felt at that moment. I was standing like an emotionless creature and was doing things like a robot .I didn’t have time to understand the fact that my grandpa is no longer with me.
Lot of people relatives and friends turned up at my home to mourn his death. On Sunday I went to crematorium to collect the “ash” of my grandpa. At crematorium, a person opened a mud pot and put the “ash” to a white cloth. I couldn’t control my emotions when I saw the “remains” of my grandfather .It was really painful. I know lot of people would have felt the same. I realized that “those grey colored matter “ which exists as remains of bone is something which is more than a "matter" for me.
I know death is something, which is very close to human beings. It can happen anytime for anyone. When it happens to our closed ones, we feel that reality is haunting us like never before. Once during a chat grandpa told me “What will happen after one dies”. Most people think that they will go somewhere or it is a complete black box. Like someone said,”Death is one of the biggest puzzle which mankind never solved”
